Ahh

The art of rendering an outhouse horizontal, and the stories of the families elders.

I really liked this column but am a little confused, Is it history or fiction?

The answer is yes. The general parameters of the Jackie story, up to the point of the apology, are based on a memory told to me by my mother, who did grow up in Portreeve and on a nearby farm. All the supporting narrative is fiction, created by me. Thanks for reading!

Very touching story. Reminds me of the little school I attended growing up in SW Oklahoma. People are people everywhere.
